AZ Riding Lessons

Equine Exposure

This is a program designed for our younger riders, ages 3-6 years old. This is a 60-90 minute lesson (depending on the amount of students), given in a group format. There will be 2-4 kids in each group.

The structure of the class is as follows:
Students will start out grooming (approximately 15 minutes) a shared horse, learning the use of the grooming tools and parts of the horse.

This is a 4 week class, divided into the following riding opportunities:

  • Week 1 Bareback
  • Week 2 Hunt Seat
  • Week 3 Western
  • Week 4 Driving

The riding portion will take approximately 30-40 minutes, which is 7-10 minutes of riding, per student, depending on age, desire, attention span, and ability.

After riding, the students will untack their mount, groom, and put them away.

The idea behind this program is to give younger kids and opportunity to be exposed to horses, in a controlled atmosphere. Additionally, we are evaluating your child's ability to possibly pursue future lessons. Due to the age of the children, parents must be patient. At this age most children take very well to horses, but are often shy in new situations. Safety is paramount when there are horses involved, so children with shorter attention spans, or who lack the ability to follow instruction, may ride for a shorter time than a child who is more comfortable taking direction from unfamiliar adult figures.
